PLN president director indicted former Corruption Rp46, 1 Billion

Anews - Former President Director of PT State Electricity Company (PLN), Eddie Widiono Suwondho, underwent a trial of a terdaka corruption in office. Eddie was under sentence of 20 years in prison.

Eddie was convicted of corruption on the outsourcing project Customer Information System Master Plan Information System (CIS-RISI) in PLN Jakarta Raya (Disjaya) Tangerang 2004-2006.

Preparation:

# Blow the rat skin with a blowtorch.
# Leave rats to cool down.
# When they are cool enough, clean the rest of the skin with a steel wool.
# Eviscerate the rats and split them.
# Put all the good rat parts in a jar, with the fresh peppers, herbs and oil.
# Leave this for half an hour in the fridge.
# Deep-fry until brown in a mixture of butter and peanut oil.
# Serve hot with some crunchy peanuts.

New battery can recharge itself using sunlight

team of scientists are hoping to give those old school re-chargeable batteries a solar-powered makeover.
Mention solar technology to people and for many it still brings to mind big clunky panels housed at sprawling industrial facilities. But recent advances in solar cells has already allowed the technology to be miniaturized and integrated into a variety of everyday household products. Last year, the Japanese company Sanyo was honored with an IF Design award at the CeBIT technology conference for a developing a dual solar-powered light and USB charger. Now comes a battery prototype that can be recharged simply by being left out in the sun.
The researchers are calling their concept the Light Catcher, which is basically a photoelectronic battery comprised of tiny anti-reflective solar cells that soak up energy from the sun. A transparent encasing protects the battery while allowing sunlight to shine through. The batteries come in AA and AAA sizes and can be inserted into most portable electronics, anything from remote controls to toys. There’s also the option to power electronics using a 3.5mm jack.

The innovators behind the “Light Catcher” concept are Yung-Hsaing Chang, Ming-Shien Lin and Chang-Ting Lu. The team developed the batteries as an entry into this year’s iF Design awards, given out each year by the Hanover-based firm iF International Forum Design.
While miniaturized solar technology is still a ways from meeting the rigorous energy demands of many portable electronics like laptops and Smartphones, such advances are still quite promising. The amount of energy that can be tapped from sunlight is enormous considering that the current technology converts only a small percentage into use-able electricity.

Living with the Dead In Manila North Cemetery

Manila North Cemetery Houses More Warm Bodies Than Cold Corpses:
10,000 Filipino families live in this massive graveyard in Manila. I recently spent five days walking among its residents taking photos and hearing stories of struggle and survival.



Some families ended up here almost accidentally. Some inherited the mausoleums that they now live in from their great-grandparents. Others came from the provinces and couldn’t make enough money to live in the big city. In all cases, they’re basically families with nowhere else to go


The people who live here manage to extract livelihoods from the dead. Teenagers carry coffins for 50 Filipino pesos—about 50 American cents. Children collect scrap metal, plastic, and other garbage to sell. Their fathers are employed to repair and maintain tombs while their mothers maintain the house, which could be the family mausoleum or the mausoleum of their employers. Rent-free shanties are wedged between or on top of crypts.

Unlike many of my countrymen, I don’t see these folks as the destitute bottom-rung of society. I see them as living embodiments of the raw spirit of the Filipino people, a nation so tough it can and has survived under any sort of hardship.

A vacant mausoleum can be a place for relaxation or entertainment. Residents in this area can come to this one and drop five pesos to sing karaoke.
A Filipino custom says that children must carry coffins. It is thought that this will keep the children safe from any ghost or vengeful spirit.
