Simply Globetrotting: Renewing your vows around the world... to the same man...every single year....

Monday, February 27, 2012

After American's Susan and Evan Money got married and were spending a not so great first year anniversay (while both were working superviseing a school trip in France) they decided to plan an ad hoc trip to The Gardens of Versailles and an even more ad hoc renewal of the vows whilst away.

Blown over by the romance and fun of this move the couple  made a pact to do the very same thing every single year and renew their vows and get married all over again as they see it, in a different place around the world on their wedding anniversary each year.

15 years on and 15 weddings later they are still going strong and are as in love as the day they first married!

'Evan’s always been a thoughtful, romantic guy - he really is the love of my life. I never thought I’d be as happy as I was on my wedding day,' admits Susan, 'But it turns out - 15 weddings later - I’m even happier than before.'

Chameleon Tongue 5 Times Faster than Jet Aircraft

God created something great with the perfect design. Design organs in animals has been designed in such a way according to the food. So is the chameleon. However, of these animals are found astonishing facts. The fact is the speed super chameleon tongue catch its prey. Jurriaan de Groot of the University of Leiden, and Johan van Leeuwen of Wageningen University, taking X-ray films of high-speed, ie 500 frames per second, in order to investigate how the chameleon's tongue works when capturing prey. These films show that the chameleon's tongue tip acceleration of 50 g (g = gravitational constant). The acceleration is five times greater than can be achieved by a fighter jet.

Zologi textbooks explain that ballistic chameleon tongue is reinforced by a piece of the accelerator muscle (accelerator). This muscle extends when pressing down on the bones of the tongue, in the form of stiff cartilage in the middle of the tongue, the wrapping. However, in a study that has been approved for publication by the journal Proceedings of the Royal Society of London (Series B), two experts who studied the morphology of the eating habits of chameleons found other elements associated with the rapid movement of the animal's tongue.

The researchers This dissected tissue of the tongue and found that the accelerator muscle was not strong enough to generate the force necessary for this alone. By examining the chameleon tongue, they discovered the existence of at least 10 packs of slippery, hitherto unknown, between the tongue accelerator muscle and bone. These sheaths, which is attached to the tongue bone at the end closest to the mouth, the fibers were observed to contain spirally wound protein.

fibers are compacted and deformed when the accelerator muscle contracts and store energy like a piece of rubber band is depressed. When it reaches the tip of the tongue round bone, tight sheaths and simultaneously sliding it extends and contracts with the power and throw the tongue. As quickly as the fibers slide from the bone of the tongue, the sheaths separate from one another like the tubes of a telescope, and the tongue reaches maximum stretch. Van Leeuwen said, "This is a telescopic catapult."

slingshot has another characteristic that is very striking. The tip of the tongue takes the form of hollow when struck prey. When ejected, the tongue may protrude as far as six times the length at rest in the mouth, and two times his own length.

muscle groups with different properties of the tongue impeccably cast, memercepatnya, causing the tongue to take shape when it hit the prey and suck then quickly pulled. Muscle groups is by no means mutually inhibit each function, but works in a synced the hit prey and pull the tongue back into the mouth in less than a second. Moreover, thanks to cooperation between the visual system and brain, the position of prey were measured and the command for ballistic tongue to "shoot!" Given by the nerves that transmit signals in the brain.

Cockroach's brains is Healthy for Humans

Wednesday, February 22, 2012

Cockroaches are usually seen as a dangerous animal health, can be found in damp places and dirty hotel. But scientists believe that they could hold the secret to treat the most formidable insects. According to the Daily Mail, testing has found a network of brain and nervous system of insects can kill more than 90 percent of MRSA infections and E-coli without harming human cells.

http://intsoftscape.files.wordpress.com/2010/02/kecoa.jpg

Simon Lee, a postgraduate researcher from the University of Nottingham said that the cockroach has strong antibiotic properties after discovering nine different molecules in cockroach tissues that are toxic to bacteria. He said: "We hope that the molecule may eventually be developed into drugs for E-coli and MRSA infections are increasingly vulnerable to current drugs. "These new antibiotics could potentially provide an alternative to currently available medications, current medications may be effective but have serious side effects and unwanted." He added: "Insects often live in an environment that is unhealthy and unhygienic where they face various kinds of bacteria. It is therefore logical ways memngembangkan insect defenses to protect themselves against micro-organisms. " Mr Lee's research focuses on the study of specific properties of antibacterial molecules that are currently being tested in these super bugs. According to the Society for General Microbiology, industrial pharmacy is producing fewer and fewer new antibiotics due to lack of financial incentives, so that high demand for alternative sources of new drugs.

Tomorrow, Mr Lee will present his findings before the public meeting of friends of scientists in the fall at the University of Nottingham. Dr Naveed Khan oversees the work Lee. He said: "superbugs like MRSA Insects have developed resistance to standard therapies and treatments that we do. "They have demonstrated the ability to infections that can not be cured, and has become a major threat in our fight against bacterial diseases. So, there is a constant need to find additional sources of new antimicrobial to deal with this threat. "

Simply Party: Niemierko style!

Tuesday, February 14, 2012

Mark Niemierko, one of the UK’s leading event and wedding planners, hosted a valentine’s reception with a masculine twist at men’s tailoring house Spencer Hart, last week on Tuesday 07th February 2012.

The St Valentine’s Party was held within Spencer Hart’s newly opened flagship store on Brook Street in London’s Mayfair.

Stephanie Balls from Peggy Porschen and friend

The cool and savvy menswear brand, Spencer Hart, offers a style, mood and attitude that Nick Hart works within.  With ready to wear and made to measure all under one roof, Spencer Hart offers a modern approach to tailoring yet leaves men looking classic and sharp.

Mark Niemierko comments “My annual Valentine’s party allows the wedding industry a night off, to let their hair down and celebrate the hard work we’ve all put in.  As well as to look forward to the weddings in the year ahead.  A few previous Niemierko Grooms have chosen to wear Spencer Hart suits on their wedding day, upon visiting their new flagship store I instantly thought this would make a great party venue.  Perfectly located directly opposite one of my favourite hotels, Claridge’s, and diagonally opposite Vera Wang.  Brook Street is fast becoming a must visit location for all Brides and Grooms.”

Mark Niemierko chose for one night to focus his attention on the Groom for a change.  After all it is all about marrying two people!

The evening had a gentlemanly theme throughout.  Cigar girls, model waitresses serving Godfathers, a whiskey based cocktail, along with Sweet Manhattans.

The canapés provided by Martyn Neil, Claridge’s Executive Chef were as tasty as they looked.  Ballotine of Foie Gras, Cornet of Smoke Salmon Moscovites, Oriental Spoon of Lobster and Papaya and a selection of sushi.

As with all Niemierko events they didn’t disappoint with dessert.  Whiskey truffles, gold dust macaroons and Brandy Snaps with Grand Marnier Whipping Cream.

Niemierko’s dear friend and florist Rob Van Helden (who will be featuring in a unique interview on our blog very soon) arranged for phalaenopsis orchid displays as well as filling the perspex bar with buttonholes.

Mark Niemierko and Rob Van Helden

The perfectly matched black baroque poser tables supplied by Great Hire looked as though they were made for the store.  Whilst the entertainment came from singer Sean Ryder Wolf, a handsome swing singer.

The unquestionable highlight of the evening came from second performer Kelli-Leigh, an amazing vocalist who sings with the likes of Adele.

Guests walked off with Niemierko gift bags including a pair of Claridge’s His and Her slippers, Cigars, Groom shaped cookies, The Hangover DVD and a Niemierko gift card set.... the lucky folks!!!

Now THAT is how to throw a party!

Amazon Jungle - World's Most Unique and Mysterious Forest

The Amazon rainforest, also known as Amazonia, or the Amazon jungle, is a moist broadleaf forest that covers most of the Amazon Basin of South America. This basin encompasses seven million square kilometers (1.7 billion acres), of which five and a half million square kilometers (1.4 billion acres) are covered by the rainforest.

The Amazon represents over half of the planet's remaining rainforests, and it comprises the largest and most species-rich tract of tropical rainforest in the world. The Amazon rainforest was short-listed in 2008 as a candidate to one of the New7Wonders of Nature by the New Seven Wonders of the World Foundation.

Amazon River
The Amazon Basin is the planets largest reservoir of fresh water. One fifth of all running water on the planet flows through the Amazon

The Amazon River is 6,868 km (4000 miles) long, the same distance as North Cape (Honningsvåg - Norway) to Las Palmas (Canary Islands - Spain), a trip that will take you 4 days and 5 hours if you are traveling by car and don't stop to eat and sleep (Ship from Cadiz to Las Palmas).

Special Things about Amazon Jungle
One hectare in the Amazon rainforest has been calculated to have a value of $6.820 (USD) if intact forest is sustainable harvested for fruits, latex, and timber; $1.000 (USD) if clear-cut for commercial timber (not sustainable harvested); or $148 (USD) if used as cattle pasture. In money, the Amazon rainforest should be worth USD 4.092.000.000.000 if sustainable harvested or only 2% of that number if used as cattle pasture.

For the global climate (and you) the Amazonian rainforest has a much bigger value. The Amazonian rainforest is estimated to accumulate 0.62 ±0.37 tonnes of carbon per hectare, per annum. Approximately, 300 million tons, but the logging and deforestation of the Amazon produces 200 million tons of CO2 every year, so a sustainable harvesting of the resources in the Amazon would really make a big difference for the global climate.

The Startling Diversity of Life
  • The Amazon is one of the richest areas in the world in animal and plant diversity.
  • There are more plant species in one hectare in Amazon than the whole of Europe.
  • Over 200 species of trees can be found on one hectare in the Amazon region.
  • One tree has been shown to have 72 different species of ants living in it.
  • There are about 30 times more fish species in the Amazon river than in all European rivers.
The diversity and contrast of life in the Amazon rainfores
  • The Amazon Water Lily (Vitoria-Regia) is the biggest flower in the world with a diameter of two meters
  • The caranguejeira spider is bigger than a baseball.
  • One species of monkey weighing 130 grams is about the size of a toothbrush.
  •  World's Longest Snake of 30meter length was found in amazon jungle only.
Yet, the range of plant and animal species in Amazon remains largely unknown.Scientists estimate that only 40 % of all insect species have so far been identified. Over 30,000 species of plants have been identified so far but another 20, 000 are estimated to remain undiscovered. Only during the 1990's seven species of monkeys, two species of birds and dozens of species of frogs and fish have been discovered.

Simply Retro: Wedding ideas- VW Campervan's

Monday, February 6, 2012

The Simply Bows and Chair Covers team love working with brides who want a unique feel or theme for their wedding and love helping them to create it.

A current wedding trend to compliment the 'retro' theme is for both the bride and groom to arrive in unusual and quirky forms of transport to and from their wedding and this is one trend we think is fab!

From bicycles with baskets to London buses, from fire engines to campervan's, we love them all! We bumped in to a VW campervan hire close to Simply Bows and Chair Covers Head Office recently and decided to ask them a few questions to share with you all...

What is company name?
Camperscape Ltd

What is your line of business?
VW Campervan hire for holiday's and weekend's and of course special occasions like weddings or indeed honeymoons!

How and why the company begin?
A chance to combine my passion for camping and campervans and the opportunity to let others experience it too. They truly add the fun factor to your wedding and perfectly compliment a retro theme.

What is your most popular camper van?
Gracie, our T2 named after the Northumbrian Grace Darlin. She is over 30 years old (shhh don't tell her I told you so!) and is one very cool 70's chick on wheels!

Why do brides come to you?
I suppose because they like to be unique, don’t want a white Rolls Royce and have impeccable taste!
What is in store for you in 2012
Hopefully lots of bookings, happy customers and another campervan to add to the fleet.

Where are you based and where can you supply?
We are based in sunny Tynemouth, give us a call!

Simply Chocolate! We get behind The Sick Children's Trust once again....

Friday, February 3, 2012

After last years HUGELY successful Big Chocolate Tea Party in aid of The Sick Children's Trust that we hosted we have decided to do it all again!

Last year De Vere Slaley Hall were kind enough to be our host venue and we had a wonderful day raising over £1000 for this fabulous charity. The Sick Children’s Trust was founded in 1982 by two pediatric specialists, Dr Jon Pritchard and Professor James Malpas, who believed that having parents on hand during hospital treatment benefited a child's recovery.

On average, 1.9 million children in the UK require hospital treatment each year. Every day, children are diagnosed with serious and life-threatening illnesses or have terrible accidents that leave them fighting for life. They often have to be transferred to specialist hospitals far from home to receive critical medical treatment. Life for their whole family is suddenly thrown into complete turmoil.

The Sick Children's Trust work with the hospitals, supporting them in their role and providing complementary support to  families. They help to alleviate some of the emotional and financial strains at a very stressful time, providing an essential service free of charge for up to 108 families every night, 365 days a year.

Whilst staying at one of their ‘Homes from Home’ is free of charge, the charity incurs a total cost of £27 per bedroom per night. They are not funded by the Government and in times when resources are scarce, they depend even more on their supporters and events such as this to help them cover this cost.

West Northumberland and Cumbria Director Kristy Giblin visited one of their home from home's last year at Newcastle's RVI (Crawford House) and was incredibly moved by the great work they did there. Simply Bows and Chair Covers were therefore only too happy to help and get involved in their Big Chocolate Tea Party 2011 campaign. Here are a few photo's from the amazing day....

This year we have decided to get involved once again and this time were teaming up with The Fairies of Northumberland and The Enchanted Forest to create a truly MAGICAL family fun day out!

The date... April 22nd
The time... 2pm
The location.... The Enchanted Forest (Ponteland)

So... pop the date in your diary (it's free too) and if you would like to help with baking some goodies or donating a raffle prize please email Kristy on kristy@simplybowsandchaircovers.co.uk

Simply Elegant

Many of our clients like the idea of  keeping their wedding colour scheme very neutral but are scared in case it looks too plain or boring.  So we thought we would show you how stunning it can look.....

This wedding took place at Eshott Hall in September 2011 on a beautiful sunny day. Simply Bows and Chair Covers dressed the chairs in white chair covers with organza sashes tied with a pearl clasp.  Whilst bels flowers worked their magic, creating beautiful centre pieces using crisp white seasonal blooms in various different silver vases.
