Simply Hitched: A Simply Bows Real Bride: Lyndsey

Thursday, June 30, 2011

Congrats to Simply Bows and Chair Covers' Real Bride Lyndsey and her new husband Chris, who got married at one of our favourite venues - Wynyard Hall.  We adored Lyndsey's fun and quirky wedding style and wanted to share it with you!

Chris and I are both from the same home town Sunderland.  Two years ago we decided to make the move to the other side of the world and now live in Sydney, Australia. When Chris proposed on Christmas Day 2009 we both knew that in our hearts we wanted be married back at home in the North East with all our family and friends.  Although Sydney is a beautiful place we really love the rich heritage and beautiful grand buildings the UK has to offer.  When I first saw pictures of Wynyard Hall we knew instantly that it was the venue for us, just stunning.

Wynyard Hall

Planning a wedding is never an easy task, but doing it over 10,000 miles away is even harder. We came back to UK 9 months before our wedding to meet with suppliers I had shortlisted online.  We met with Lucinda from Simply Bows and Chair Covers and we instantly knew that we were in good hands.  With lots of previous experience working with our Wynyard Hall we knew everything would be taken care of.

Lucinda made the distance really easy to manage with prompt email communication and took the pressure away by dealing direct with the venue.  Lucinda had all the finishing touches from linen, charger plates, chair covers to fairy lights to make the venue look even more magical.

We chose a silver theme as we wanted something sophisticated and complimentary to the venue decor.   Lucinda recommended some diamante brooches for our chair covers which added that finishing touch. We then carried the diamante theme through our wedding to add that glam touch.

We also wanted to have a bit of fun by incorporated an Australian theme to the day too.....

Chris and the ushers arrived in a fantastic 1965 splitscreen combi camper van from Lovedubcars whilst our guest favours were personalised silver flip flops for the ladies and an Australian beer and stubby cooler for the guys.

The day was just perfect and I would definitely recommend Lucinda and Simply Bows and Chair Covers to anybody getting married.  The finishing touches really made a difference and I cannot thank her and the Simply team enough! A class act!

Housing Alien Found on Mars

Friday, June 24, 2011

David Martines, who calls himself an "astronaut behind the desk", claimed to have found suspicious rectangular structure on the surface of Mars Mars using the Google service. These findings are now spread viral on YouTube.
"I call this structure as the Bio Station Alpha, and I think there are that live in it or at least lived there," Martines said today.
The structure is considered as the building's elongated, white, and fragmented. The building itself is at coordinates 49 '19.73 "llintang north and 29 33' 06.53" west longitude, measuring 213 meters long and 45 meters wide. Martines added, the form of a tube structure.
The findings are considered the building as a residence alien received a rejection from space experts. White structure is more likely due to defects in the image caused by disruption of outer space particles.
"It looks like an artifact caused by cosmic rays straight," says planetary geologist from the Lunar and Planetary Lab at the University of Arizona, Alfred McEwen.
McEwen is principal investigator on the project sensing surface of Mars through the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE). This man used to explore the Red Planet surface image data and often find artifacts like those found Martines.
From that experience, McEwen believes that the white artifacts appear due to cosmic rays fall to chip the camera while taking pictures on the coordinates of the location in question. Consequently, in addition to recording the surface of Mars, the cameras also record the trajectories trace the cosmic particles. "Then the image is compressed so that the artifact is printed kekotak-boxed," he explained.
There are lessons to be drawn from the discovery of the structure of this suspicious. According to McEwen, Google should include information from which a satellite photo on Google Mars taken. Thus, people who are curious as Martines can browse the raw images from trusted sources before identifying image

Simply Nostalgic: Venue Spotlight- The White Swan

Thursday, June 23, 2011

Simply Bows and Chair Covers are delighted to introduce to you The White Swan Hotel in Alnwick.

Set in the heart of the historic market town of Alnwick and only a stone's throw from Alnwick Castle and Gardens, The White Swan is a charming 300 year old coaching inn that blends its unique heritage with superb accommodation. The White Swan has 57 bedrooms, from classic twins and doubles, to superior doubles, suites, family rooms and a fabulous four poster suite.

For generations one of the North of England's primary hotels, The White Swan is probably best known for its Olympic Dining Suite which features the magnificent panelling, mirrors and stained glass windows from the Titanic's sister ship. All 57 bedrooms are designed to an impeccable standard, and Hardy's Bistro, a contemporary, informal dining experience, is open all day for coffee, light lunches and an excellent bistro menu.

The Titanic's sister ship, the RMS Olympic, was launched in 1911, a year before its sister's tragic maiden voyage. Despite being converted to oil-fired engines in 1919-1920, it became uneconomical in comparison to the new and luxurious Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth, and was finally retired in 1935 and scrapped in 1937. This provided valuable work for Scottish shipyards, which were suffering from the effects of the Depression.

Before it was dismantled completely, many of the fittings and artworks were auctioned. The then-owner of The White Swan bought the Olympic's dining room and transported it to the hotel, reconstructing it in all its splendour.

The magnificent Olympic Suite, which can cater for up to 150 people theatre style and 120 diners, now shows off  the original panelling, mirrors, ceiling and stained glass windows from a time when ships were truly magnificent. An eccentric idea perhaps, but one that has made The White Swan very special.

The White Swan offer a number of packages to make your special day unique including a number of offerings from Simply Bows and Chair Covers to add that special touch to your wedding.

For more information on The White Swan visit their website here or see more images of The White Swan dressed by Simply Bows and Chair covers on our website.

Predicted future hotel will offer Virtual Sex

Monday, June 20, 2011

Predicted future hotel will offer interactive technology to offer guests an experience of virtual sex.

Sponsored by Travelodge, futurologist Ian Pearson said that, by 2030, we will be able to regulate the content of our dreams, dreams repeat afavorite like choosing a movie from the menu. Even be possible to share your dreams with your spouse or friends.

Pearson also think that making love virtual remote will probably occur in 2030, which allows individuals to connect, while their spouses are away from home.

But for those who really can not get into the mood without a little push, it will be possible to use active lens to change the images sent to their retinas, and customize how they look during sex couples.

"This will allow people to change the image of their partner on a regular basis - and only they will realize, as lovers they will not be able to say what they see," said Pearson.

Not only that, by 2030 it will be possible to diagnose some medical conditions by monitoring the sleep patterns. Sleepwear electro-responsive cloth will display that allows the measurement of skin conductivity pulse, blood pressure and heart signal quality.

"On average we spend a third of our lives sleeping and this will still happen in 2030," said Pearson.

"Technology will not change our basic needs for sleep, but it certainly will enhance the experience, allowing sleep to have a value far greater than just rest and recuperation," he said.

Oprah’s ‘Favorite Things’ Segments Cost Nearly $24 Million

Wednesday, June 15, 2011

Oprah Winfrey Closeup
Oprah Winfrey loved to give things away on her talk show, from free trips to giveaways, there was always a good chance that an airing of her show would include a gift for someone, however it was her “favorite things” shows that drew the biggest and most expensive giveaways.
According to site Jezebel:

“Oprah’s Favorite Things” giveaways alone cost a total of around $23.8 million.
That price includes basic items from $4 croissants and $12 Josh Groban CDs to more extravagant gifts including $22,000 VW Beetles and $2,400 diamond watches.
The $23.8 million price was estimated by understanding the cost of each item (retail) and then multiplying that number by the 300 audience members in attendance for each show.
Nearly half of that $23.8 million estimate is said to come from 2010 when some of her most lavish gifts were given to audience members.
What was your favorite Oprah Winfrey giveaway?
